Spare change, anyone?

I love routine. When I find something I love, I will stick to it. Forever. Or at least until I get sick of it. Then I cannot bear the sight, smell, taste, mention. But part of my heart will always remember how much I loved it. And after a while apart, should I re-encounter the object of my obsession, there is a good chance I fall in love with it all over again.
Examples? Humous. Avocado. The series FRIENDS. To name a few.
There are other things which I love, where my affection never seems to wane. If anything it grows. And yoga is one of these. I am always thirsty to learn more, to try more, to do more, to experience more.
But I love routine, and my go-to yoga style is Vinyasa Flow. But yesterday I decided to leave this well-trodden path to try something new. I went to my first Iyengar Yoga Class, at YogaLoft in Queen's Park, with my pal and yoga buddy, Olympia.
Our mats rolled tightly and our minds opened, off we went.
... and guess what? It was great!
It was so much fun to try a new style of Yoga - the poses were familiar, but everything was... different! How you get into a pose, the structure of the class, the (lots of ) props, the way it made my body and mind feel. Not foreign, but still not the same.
The main lesson from our 75 minute class in this lovely little loft in Queen's Park, was that I should always say yes to trying something new. We should get comfortable with leaving our comfort zone. That's where the fun really happens.
